Far from the city, on a stretch of road that barely anyone used let alone knew about, Iwamichi lazily leaned against a tree. It was a great spot for her because no one could disturb her; the silence was majestic. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a job drought. That, or the ones on the job board were too boring and to worthless to take notice of. She needed to get stronger, which meant she had to use her abilities more often. The way things were now, she had no idea how much she needed to improve and how far her abilities stretched. It worried her a little. But then she pushed that anxiety aside. She adjusted her position to get more comfortable, for she had put on her armor just in case a job suddenly sprang up. The day seemed to cruelly roll on at the speed of a snail. However, the day had just begun, and there was something coming that would require Iwa's full attention and full power. It was a small glimpse, but Iwa could recognize a person walking down the path in her direction. Although they were 30 feet away, she could clearly see the figure's form and features. She did not recognize this person as a guild member, but they weren't a normal civilian either. Civilians just had a certain air or feeling about them that allowed you to just tell that they were a civilian and not a magic wielder. Iwa immediately came on her guard and pulled away into the cover of the trees. She didn't think that the man could see her yet because she had greater senses than a normal human's level. Pondering what action she should take, she watched the figure approach. She made up her mind: this was the perfect test of her strength. If she could defeat this wizard on the road, she would feel better. So, her ambush began. Spoiler

Saravok didn’t presently have a destination in mind. His long strides took him down the road away from the nearby city, metal boots stirring up small clouds of dust as his footfalls landed in the dirt. Food would be nice, food would be very nice indeed at this point in time; it had been a few hours since he had eaten and he wasn’t entirely hungry but was strongly considering a take at the jerky in his belt pouch. He had been walking for a little ways now, quite far enough away from the city to even be in sight of it anymore, but he didn’t mind. He enjoyed the wilderness – the open space it afforded was something he had come to value. His armor creaked softly as he moved, his weapon in one hand and rested back against his shoulder – the simple yet effective firearm that had served him quite well since he had traded in for it a few months ago. Not the best for hunting, but certainly good enough for what basic jobs he had been able to find thus far in his new location; a bit of vermin hunting, clearing a few wild animals from where they had no place being, sending a message to some rowdy hoodlums who seemed to think his place of residence a perfectly good place to loiter noisily outside of. His helmet hung from the strong belt loop at his hip, unused as of yet. He looked up, the sun blazing in the sky and the trees in front of him pulling him out of lackadaisical musings on whether or not to consume the delicious jerky in his pouch. Trees meant cover, and bandits loved hiding right at the intersection between open ground and trees. Easy to ambush, easy to chase since your prey will run into the open ground, easy to find a body in an open field… prime archery territory is what it all made. He still wasn’t too worried; these roads were generally safe to his understanding, but caution had paid off and kept him alive so far throughout his life and he was not about to completely forsake that now. He casually unclipped the helmet from his belt and fastened it over his head, completing his suit of armor. He was a fearsome looking opponent with it completed, the plates interlocking over their leather bindings designed to not rub Saravok’s skin off – a rather unpleasant feeling in the best of circumstances. His weapon came down into his other hand as well, though he assumed no combat stance nor readied a shot or spell. Precaution never hurt anyone, but paranoia was another matter that Saravok didn’t take the time to care for; if you spent your whole life looking for the knife in the back, you usually got stabbed in the front. From Iwa's silent perch, she could see the man slowly stride by. He was clad in full armor, but he didn't seem to expect anything like a sudden attack from a dark wizard. She wasn't normally one to rush into things, but she had already decided to go through with it. If he had sen her first, he would have done the same thing- probably. She quickly calculated her next move and some other possibilities. To her, the best plan of action seemed to strike right where she was. Creating an electric charge in the air, she gathered up energy and released a massive thunderbolt over the head of the unsuspecting traveler. (20 damage)Iwa knew that this man would not be mentally or physically prepared for an attack like this. He wouldn't even see it coming because it was above his head. This attack would also decrease his speed by 20%. Even if he happened to be ready for her next attack, his reaction speed would be much slower. Meaning, it would be a lot harder to parry. Lastly, he would have to look around and actually find her in her hiding position before he could actually do anything to attack her. Iwa knew she had an advantage. If she kept hiding and attacked from a distance she could possibly wear him down. If necessary, she would use melee attacks, but she would stick to this strategy for as long as she could.

Step, step, pain. That wasn't usually how things worked in Saravok's memory, but then again it was where the trees met an open space. The lightning bolt crashed down onto him as he ate the entirety of the spell and felt it sap the mobility out of his muscles. He smiled inside his helmet. " Oh dear, oh my, that wasn’t smart at all.” (Intimidation level 5 activated) His voice breathed a quiet anger mixed with a certain excitement; combat, avoided where it could be but ultimately inevitable, brought out the virtues in you, and Saravok enjoyed the fight once it was begun in most situations. Having half expected a confrontation here, he aimed to show his attacker their mistake. Saravok spun around, scanning the trees and their sparse growth. The lightning bolt had come from above him and the forest floor lacked the kind of serious vegetation needed to actually manage to hide someone well. The trees were the only real option for someone to be unseen at first, and even those weren’t a particularly good choice given the season. In a moment he saw a shape that did not belong in a tree; a piece of clothing, and out of it materialized an enemy. Not practiced in stealth then, Saravok thought to himself, works well enough for me. He did not attack immediately, rather he straightened and looked at the small mage who had attacked him. “ You there, little one, I don’t know your affiliation, but attacking me was a mistake.” His body began to shrink down to her size, his form changing and his armor following it. His figure grew slimmer, more feminine, and light blue hair dropped down out of his helmet to his shoulders. With one hand he reached up and removed his helm, revealing Iwamichi’s own face looking up at her, a trickle of blood running down one side of her face and a smile curling up at both ends. Transformation magic; he wasn’t any kind of advanced at it, but he had found it an incredibly useful tool in his adventures already and planned to make use of it as much as he could to gain an advantage in whatever situation he thought it might assist him in. Upon seeing a mage so much younger than him, he thought this may well be such an instance – and indeed one where he likely needed to recover an advantage lost. Though his outfit and weapon stayed the same – he lacked the ability to copy the look of those – he took on her physical form just as exactly as he could see her. What he couldn’t see was speculation, but her face… that was what he needed most, and that was what he had. “ I’ve got scars you wouldn’t believe, little one; scars that run deep across my body from those who thought themselves above me, and scars linked to memories that have given my blood a certain capacity for violence. So let’s see if you hate yourself more than I hate you. You may have slowed my body, but my bullets are fast as ever!” he let fly a thunderous shot from his weapon (20 damage) right at where she was perched, the sound of the shell igniting ringing out in the open air. With that much foreshadowing Saravok didn’t figure it would be a hard shot to avoid, had she been paying attention, but it would at least get her out of her little niche. {Spoiler}Intimidate level 3, buffed by Scary level 4 for Intimidate 5. Four rank difference paired against Brave 1 for 50% damage reduction and visibly affecting fear.

Iwa bit her lip, hard after her first attack. Although it was a direct hit, the man was unmoved. True, it was probably obvious that SOMEONE would attack him on an open road like this, but his calm demeanor was unsettling. His movements were not slowed as much as she liked because he found her relatively quickly. Then, he began to speak. His formed change to look like...HER! Very little terrified her, but she this had her more than afraid. She didn't know what hurt more, her self-berating because how big a sissy sh was acting like or the image in front of her of her own, twisted face. His intimidation skills were impressive. He rambled on about something like pain. Grinding her teeth, she knew in her heart this man had no idea about true pain. She didn't care what his background was, no one had the right to tell her that they knew bloodshed, knew violence, knew scars better than she. HE unleashed a bullet at her through the trees. She had been watching intently, so she swung away from the bullet's path and landed on the path below.
Unfortunately, she couldn't hide her trepidation in front of this man. Her body was sweating and her eyes dilated every once in a while. But that was also because she was struggling to keep her anger and emotions at bay. "I have no room for emotions, not hate or greed or lust or pleasure. My sole purpose is to survive, to surpass all others and never give in to the pain of life and emotions. You, you say you know pain so well. Well, I embraced it. I'll tell you, this scar was not made by others' hands. She had motioned to her eye-patch at that time. This man was quick to become angry and hate anyone or anything that crossed his path. Now, she had done just that. It seemed like his intimidation techniques and his shotgun as all that he had. But, that didn't mean this fight would be easy. Summoning her whip from her side, she unleashed a fireball as fast as she could.
It barreled towards the man and Iwa doubted he could dodge the attack. It was possible, if his gun was strong enough, to cancel the attack. So, she had to be prepared for that. If that was his only option, he would not be moving from his current position, but would be focusing more on aiming at the oncoming flame. She dashed back through the trees. Again, she let off a huge ball of flame at hr opponent, but from a different angle. Canceling both attacks at his weakened speed was highly improbable. Next, she had to wait to see the outcome of her attacks. She sought the cover of the trees again, relying on her better senses to be able to spot any counterattacks, stay hidden, and continue her assault while dwindling his health and energy.
((OOC: I'm not sure if this fireball move takes any stamina or how much it takes if it does. I'm going to guess it uses 2-4 for now, but if you could tell me just to verify, I would appreciate that. So, I'll mark my stamina this way for now. I'm also not sure how much damage that would do. Combined, I'm thinking 20? Anyway, just PM me or whatever)) HP: 195/195 Stamina: 31/45

Iwa requests that you don't post in this because she needs to fix stamina cost and such for the spells she's using. Just relaying a message

Ah, the whip, right, that did get a bit garbled in the item remake. How I understand it is that now it is a whip with a constant Lightning Elemental Affinity, dealing Lightning damage instead of physical damage, with a Fireball spell placed in it. The stamina here depends on what class of spell was put on it for the fireball - D or C. If D the cost would be 5 per fireball and 0.5 soul stat (for you, 10) base damage, if C it would be 10 per fireball and 1.0 soul stat damage (20) base. The damage numbers would be cut in half due to a 4 point difference between your Brave and his Intimidate, for 5 each or 10 each based on the class of the spell.
When the items got updated, something I have only been told about and wasn't directly around for, elemental affinity stopped being an activated thing and started being a passive effect on the weapon or item, and in the case of items like this the fireball effect got shifted to the normal magic system as a spell put into an item with the normal costs associated with it. Hope this clears things up.
EDIT: Basically: The fireball effect is now a C-Class (I assume) spell attached to an item, and follows all the normal rules for a C class spell. To fully answer the question of stamina costs; since we had an early problem with insta-murdering people in opening shots, attacks now have a multiplier placed on them for each attack past the first, excluding high ranks in Martial Knowledge. So should I shoot at you, say, four times, the stamina cost goes 1, 2, 4, 8, for each shot. Honestly I have no idea if this applies to spells or not, and I'm realizing that I may need to entirely re-write many of the rules posts as they dont seem to have been updated at any point.
EDIT2: Sorry, got distracted by reading through rules posts. The stamina question: Two fireballs = 20 stamina, if it is a C class spell. If you wish to change your post based on this information, you are welcome to. And yes, if both hit fully and are not partially dodged or blocked, they would be 20 damage total after reduction from fear.
