There are three types of spell templates. The first is the offensive spell template. Use this one for making spells that deal damage.

The second template is the defensive spell template.

The final spell template is the utility spell template. This template should be used for spells that neither cause or prevent damage. Utility spells are quite often E-class, but more powerful utility spells may merit a higher-class.
